The Belt and Road disaster mitigation and monitoring products in 2019
December 31.2019
SDIM has cooperated to study the multi-source remote sensing data consolidation approach based on disaster characteristics with the support of DBAR Disaster Risk Reduction Working Group. SDIM has carried out spatial monitoring of disaster environmental characteristics of multi-regional and diversified geomorphology units in the Belt and Road, and developed key regional disaster products for the areas where disaster statistics data are lacking or in low accuracy, thus providing the background data basis for the major infrastructure construction in the Belt and Road.
At present, the catalogue of natural disasters in countries along the “Belt and Road” in the past four decades (1980-2017) has been completed, in which the following five contents are analysed emphatically: 1) The overall situation of natural disasters in countries along the “Belt and Road” and ten natural disaster events; 2) The types of major natural disasters in countries along the “Belt and Road” and their loss situation; 3) Types of major natural disasters in the Asian region and losses; 4) Types of major natural disasters in the European region and losses; 5) Types of major natural disasters in the African region and losses. Finally, a research report on the risk prevention and capacity building of natural disasters of the "Belt and Road” countries has been made by combining China’s existing research.
