SDIM provided Nepal with technical support for satellite remote sensing data in earthquake areas
April 25.2015
On April 25, Nepal was hit by an 8.1-Richter magnitude earthquake. Immediately after it occurred, we organized science & research personnel to monitor the earthquake and used our space technology and platform for disaster reduction to analyse the damages caused by the earthquake as soon as possible. Upon the request of the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) of Nepal, we shared our satellite remote sensing data and scientific analysis for the earthquake-hit area. Our emergency response and application of space technology to disaster reduction were also recognized by TWAS.
