In November, the First China Digital Earth Conference (CDEC) was held in Beijing. It attracted many leaders to attend and address, including Bai Chunli, President of CAS, Wang Qinmin, Vice Chairman of the 12th CPPCC National Committee, Xu Guanhua, Former Minister of Science and Technology, Huai Jinpeng, Secretary of the Leading Party Member of CAST, Hou Zengqian, Deputy Director of National Natural Science Foundation of China, as well as more than 800 experts from 239 units.

In the meantime, the Symposium on Digital Disaster Reduction and Sustainable Development organized by SDIM was attended by experts from more than 20 institutions, such as China Earthquake Administration, Beijing Normal University, Yunnan University, China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research (IWHR), at which the cooperation in disaster reduction methods and applications of flood, glacial lake outburst, landslide and other disasters was discussed.
