In May 2019, the International Conference on Silk-roads Disaster Risk Reduction and Sustainable Development (SIDRR Conference) was jointly held by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), UNDRR and UNEP in Beijing. For assisting to establish the Belt and Road Union of Concerned Scientists for Disaster Reduction and the Belt and Road Union of Young Geoscientists, the parallel sessions of "Promoting International Scientific and Technological Cooperation in Disaster Reduction" and "Strengthening Interaction between Science, Technology and Policy in Disaster Reduction" were organized jointly by SDIM.
