Disaster Session for the international Workshop on Digital Belt and Road

On February 27, SDIM Director Guo Huadong led a delegation to the international Workshop on Digital Belt and Road - Use of Earth Observation Science and Technology and Big Data Applications for Implementation of Sustainable Development Goals held in Bangkok, the capital city of Thailand. Guo was joined by 100-plus delegates representing the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA), Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Ramkhamhaeng University, as well as relevant government agencies, research institutes and institutions of higher education. SDIM organized a session on achieving UN sustainable development goals (SDGs) by utilizing space technologies through space with emphasis on the goals related to disaster risk reduction. The symposium, promoted mechanisms towards capacity building for disaster risk control and collaborative research on climate change, environmental protection, and to build a regional research networks for collaborative monitoring of disaster risk reduction indicators of the SDGs in Southeast Asia.
