On 4-6 April 2017, the 10th International Symposium on Digital Earth was organized in Sydney, Australia. More than 6 hundreds people from 27 counties participated in the conference. SDIM organized a session on disaster at the symposium. SDIM’s Director Guo Huadong presided over the opening ceremony and deliver a presentation related to the use of Big Earth Data for the sustainable development of the Belt and Road. He pointed that big earth data has begun to significantly influence global production, circulation, distribution, and consumption patterns. The era of big data and analytics is opening up new possibilities for disaster risk reduction.
