2nd International Training Workshop on Space Technology for Disaster Mitigation

Between the period of June 3 and 13, 2014, the 2nd International Training Workshop on Space Technology for Disaster Mitigation was held at RADI Olympics Campus. In the opening ceremony, TWAS Executive Director Romain Murenzi extended his video congratulations on the event.
20 participants from 18 developing countries, including Thailand, Mongolia, Kenya, Columbia, South Africa, Papua New Guinea, etc. attended the workshop. By providing systematic training in the theory and practical guide, participants obtained knowledge of the basic data acquisition process of disaster mitigation using space technology, the principles and methods of space data processing for various disasters, the significance of space technology for disaster mitigation and its role in integrated disaster reduction. This workshop not only enhanced the research and operating capabilities of the participants in terms of space technology for disaster mitigation, but also deepened their understanding of CAS and TWAS, laying a solid foundation for further deepening of the scientific cooperation among developing countries.
