On the morning of November 23, the 3rd CAS-TWAS SDIM International Training Session “Natural Disaster Risk Management in Developing Countries: Scientific and Practical Methods” was open on the RADI Sanya campus. SDIM Director academician Guo Huadong, Deputy Mayor Li Baiqing of Sanya, Secretary General Hong Tianhua of the International Centre on Space Technologies for Natural and Cultural Heritage under the Auspices of UNESCO (HIST), and professor John van Genderen of the University of Twente in the Netherlands each gave a speech at the opening ceremony.

The program offered systematic training on the theory on space technology for disaster reduction, related technologies and their application, to foster practical talents in this regard and promote the application of space technology for disaster reduction in developing countries. This session received over 130 applications from over 50 developing countries and 23 applicants from 17 developing countries including Pakistan, Myanmar, Malaysia, Nepal, Mongolia and Kyrgyzstan were enrolled.
