The International Training Workshop on Big Earth Data for Disaster Risk Reduction

On October 30, 2018, the International Training Workshop on Big Earth Data for Disaster Risk Reduction, jointly hosted by SDIM, Integrated Research on Disaster Risk (IRDR), International Society for Digital Earth (ISDE), CASEarth, and IRDR CHINA, opened at the Olympic campus of Aerospace Information Research Institute (AIR), CAS.
The training workshop focused on the scientific application of big Earth data for reducing disaster risks along the Belt and Road, with emphasis on the Goal 11 “Sustainable Cities and Communities” and Goal 13 “Climate Action” of the UN sustainable development goals (SDGs), and on disaster risk reduction based on the “Belt and Road” big Earth data analysis and decision-making support system. It attracted 20 trainees from 17 countries including Czech, Ghana, Iran, Nepal, Armenia, Bangladesh, Cote d’Ivoire, Zimbabwe, Bulgaria, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka.
